Jeep presents the refreshed version of the Wrangler for the European market. Against fashion, the sturdy all-terrain vehicle gets a smaller grille. There are also updates in the field of infotainment, safety systems and wheels.
The update for the Jeep Wrangler was announced earlier, but at that time it only concerned the American variant. Here too, the cosmetic news mainly concerns the grille. The seven characteristic vertical openings between the headlights are less high than before. This is further accentuated by the fact that they are now contained in a kind of frame, between which Jeep allows black paint to flow. The front bumper also appears slightly different, with striking ‘bumpers’ and a new fog lamp frame. Jeep also speaks of new wheels and points out that the antenna is now invisibly concealed in the windshield. This is nice in the terrain, because then the antenna cannot come into contact with branches and other terrain-related misery.
There is also quite a bit new to discover in the interior. The luxury level is increased with more extensive (12-way) adjustable electric seats, a new digital instrumentation and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Jeep is also expanding the number of active safety systems, not least because the EU requires it. There is now a ‘Drowsy Driver Alert’, which monitors the alertness of the driver, and the Jeep of course reports speed limits and any violations thereof. Lane departure warning is also now present.
The Jeep Wrangler is available as Sahara and Rubicon, with the latter being a bit rougher as usual. Naturally, the plug-in hybrid 4xe is highly expected in Europe.
