BMW is synonymous with driving pleasure. But also for progress and daring to be different. BMW took the road to 100 percent electric mobility ten years ago with the unique and progressive in every respect and, above all, sustainable i3. ‘Not normal’ was a common response. And that is exactly the case with the equally revolutionary BMW iX. An electric car that breaks with convention and, like the i3, brings the future into the present.

Granted, the BMW iX is a car that many people think ‘something’ about. Logically, he is quite controversial. The approach for the BMW iX was therefore not to develop an electric car that fits neatly in line with the rest. The BMW iX is not normal, but it is still the new normal for BMW. And not just because it is 100 percent electric.

Not normally economical

You might not think it, but the BMW iX has unprecedentedly low air resistance with a Cd value of 0.25. In combination with the large battery and efficient motor, this results in a wide range.

Not normally comfortable

Sitting on seats like you would want in your living room and a backseat that makes you even more loved by family and friends. The versatile suspension system of the BMW iX smoothes the road or makes the car very sporty. Many sustainable materials are used for the interior, for example the BMW iX contains a relatively large amount of recycled aluminum, almost no chrome and FSC-certified wood. And the natural leather of the seats is colored with olive leaf extract.

Not normally a lot of driving pleasure

BMW makes driving great, the iX is no exception. Electric driving boring? Forget it. The smooth and fast acceleration is addictive, the steering is precise and makes every bend a joy.

Not normally smart

The BMW iX is full of visible and invisible functionalities that make driving safe and comfortable. The panoramic glass roof (the largest BMW ever made) can be darkened at the touch of a button and the sound of the (optional) Bowers & Wilkins audio system will blow you away.

Not normally durable

• Each BMW iX contains 60 kg of recycled plastic.
• BMW obtains more than 40 percent of the water required from its own sources and energy for production comes from nearby hydroelectric power stations.
• During its entire life cycle, the BMW iX emits almost 50 percent less greenhouse gases than a comparable car with a diesel engine.
• Cobalt and lithium come from mines in Morocco and Australia, where BMW monitors environmental and working conditions.
• The amount of cobalt in the batteries of the BMW iX has been reduced to less than 10 percent compared to the previous generation of batteries.
• Each BMW iX contains 60 kg of recycled plastic.
• No rare earth materials have been used for the electric motor of the BMW iX.
