Harbinger for production EV 2026

The Lexus hinted above is a concept car that will be unveiled in Japan late next month. That car will be a preview of an electric production model of a completely new generation, so it is most likely also important for Europe.
At Toyota and Lexus, the story in the EV field is roughly as follows: the cars we have now – the bZ4X and the Lexus RZ – are a kind of sweetener, the truly revolutionary EVs will come later. The brands themselves will of course not literally say that, but it is evident from the number of exciting future plans with solid state batteries, ranges of up to 1,200 kilometers and extreme-looking bodies that we are presented with.
As a treat, we were once presented with a huge fleet of concept cars in one load, plus a slightly more concrete promise about an electric sports car. The concept car to be unveiled next month makes it all even more concrete, if we can believe Lexus’ Japanese news page – and what Google Translater makes of it. The car is the precursor to an electric production model, which should be released in 2026.
However, we don’t know much more than that yet. The sharp-looking, low body gives the impression that this is the car with its special silhouette has already been shown, but nothing is certain. Lexus does promise that the production EV that will result from this concept car will be groundbreaking in terms of platform and body structure, introduce a new modular structure, introduce new software and even drastically change the production process. Revolutionary, as previously announced.
The still shrouded concept car from Lexus will be shown at the Japan Mobility Show, which will be held in Tokyo from October 28 to November 5.
