1. Enable or disable NameDrop

We’ll start these iPhone tips with the NameDrop feature. NameDrop lets you quickly share contact information with another iPhone by tapping both iPhones together. If you want that, the feature must be enabled. If you don’t want that, check whether the function is disabled. This is how you do it:

  1. Open the Settings app;

  2. Tap ‘General’ and then ‘AirDrop’;

  3. Enable or disable the ‘bring devices together’ option.

Do you find the function useful, but do you use two iPhones (for example, business and private)? Then it is advisable to disable the function. If you don’t do that, they will start NameDroping every time they are near each other…

2. Set Haptic Touch to Fast

In iOS 17, you’ll be able to see previews, actions, and contextual menus faster. By default the option is set to ‘Standard’ and previously you only had the option to make it ‘Slow’. You can adjust this as follows:

  • Open the Settings app;
  • Tap ‘Accessibility’ then ‘Touch’;
  • Tap ‘Haptic Touch’;
  • Set the TOUCH DURATION to ‘Fast’.

By default the setting is 100 percent, but you can now increase it to a maximum of 200 percent. If you have difficulty following Siri, you can also choose to slow down the speaking speed.

4. Lock Private Mode in Safari

With the arrival of iOS 17 you can enter private mode Safari lock with Face ID. When you use private mode for the first time after the update to iOS 17, you will immediately be asked whether you want to enable this new feature. But it’s also useful to know where you can manually enable and disable the option:

  • Open the Settings app;
  • Scroll down a bit and tap Safari;
  • Scroll almost all the way to the bottom;
  • Enable or disable the ‘Require Face ID to unlock private mode’ option.
