Aston Martin has had a ‘milder’ hypercar brother for the Valkyrie behind the scenes for years: the Valhalla. Now that hybrid super athlete is finally almost ready to go into production, the British proudly report.
We rewind to March 2019, already 4.5 years ago, to arrive at the presentation of the Aston Martin AM-RB 003. The first sign of the hypercar, later renamed Valhalla, which was just below the insane Valkyrie in the ranking is established. These two have one important thing in common and that is that they were created from a collaboration with Red Bull Racing. However, that collaboration did not last until the end of the development of the Valhalla and this is also evident from what Aston Martin is now communicating.
According to the British, the Valhalla is now finally almost ready to go into production. A driveable prototype should be ready this year and construction will begin in 2024. This news comes together with an extensive look back at the origins of the Valhalla and there is exactly zero mention of Red Bull or designer Adrian Newey. According to Aston Martin, the aerodynamic ingenuity on the Valhalla is mainly due to its own Formula 1 team (which was formed from Racing Point in 2021). In the team’s wind tunnel, Aston Martin, together with engineers from the F1 team, has been busy optimizing all the wings on, on and under the Valhalla, so that the now 1,012 hp strong nose now generates more than 600 kg of downforce at a speed of 240 km/h.
The model will probably not be able to be tried out in real life until sometime in 2024, when the first copies will be built. There will be a total of 999 of these, each for an amount of at least about seven tons. Last year, AutoWeek was able to see an earlier prototype of the Aston Martin Valhalla in person.
