The Japan Mobility Show is the stage where the general public will soon be introduced to a slick electric crossover with a gigantic display in the interior and three electric motors. However, the study model does not come from a renowned car manufacturer.
Meet the LSR-05 from THK. THK Corporation is a Japanese technology company and supplier to many car manufacturers. The concept car that it shows to the world in full regalia during the Japan Mobility Show serves as a showcase for what it has to offer. Are you charmed by its design? Then therein lies the bad news. The LSR-05 will not go into production.
THK describes the LSR-05 as a ‘crossover coupe’. The sleek liftback with a relatively high ground clearance extends over a distance of just under 5 meters. It is 1.95 meters wide and 1.53 meters high. The numbers ’05’ in the model name refer to ’50’, the number of years the company has been in existence. And what about LSR? That stands for Luxury, Sport and Revolution. Yes. The LSR-05 has a platform that allows 800V on-board voltage. At the rear, the concept car has two 126 hp electric motors each. The LSR-05 has a single 299 hp electric motor at the front. The battery pack can be charged wirelessly – i.e. via induction.

The LSR-05 has adaptive dampers all around that should keep the LSR-05 quite flat in corners. THK also equips its show car with four-wheel steering. We also see rear doors that open backwards and a dashboard that consists of a wall-to-wall screen. At the corners we see the screens on which the image is conjured up by the cameras that replace the side mirrors. More screen fun comes in the form of a fully digital interior mirror.
Would you like to see a production model of the LSR-05? Then it is hoped that an existing car manufacturer will adopt the design. As mentioned, THK has no plans to produce a derivative of the car. Fun fact: the design of the show car comes from SN Design Platform, a company owned by Shiro Nakamura, who previously Senior Vice President of Design was at Nissan.
