Multi-purpose

Toyota makes a huge splash during the Japan Mobility Show. During its home game, the brand will present several electric concept cars. A few of them highlighted it earlier and now we are introduced to another new show debutant. This is the Toyota Kayoibako, a multifunctional EV that, according to the Japanese, embodies the future of mobility.
Earlier this week, Toyota released the first detailed photos of two study models that will debut later this month during the Japan Mobility Show. Toyota Auto Body also has a bunch of conceptual newcomers ready for the Japanese car fair, but there is more. Today we are introduced to the Toyota Kayoibako, a concept car with a difficult name, but an interesting design.
According to Toyota, the Kayoibako symbolizes a future with “mobility that gives you the freedom to live your life the way you want. At any place and at any time.” We can’t do anything with that at all, but fortunately Toyota’s marketing department has, in addition to a difficult model name and vague talk, also released more concrete information.

Kayoibako!
The study model reflects Toyota’s vision of a multi-purpose EV and the brand describes it as a study model that reflects its vision of “the future of mobility”. The Kayoibako should not only be usable as a passenger car, but also as a smart van with a modular interior. But there’s more. Toyota also foresees a role for the Kayoibako as a shop on wheels and as a taxi van. It measures just under 4 meters in length, is 1.79 meters wide and 1.86 meters high. The wheelbase is 2.8 meters and the loading space is a spacious 3.13 meters deep. The chunky design study model has sliding doors, a blunt snout and an interior with a wall-to-wall display and a screen that is on the left of the screen. yoke-like steering wheel has been installed. What is striking is the second windscreen that the show car has in the straight sloping part of its front. Toyota has not yet said a word about concrete production plans.
