Not only Toyota but also its luxury brand Lexus is making a big splash during the Japan Mobility Show. The brand is showing two brand new study models. These are the Lexus LF-ZC and Lexus LF-ZL!

Lexus takes the curtain off two study models during the Japan Mobility Show: the LF-ZC and the LF-ZL. We’ll start with the first of these, as Lexus already says that a production version will be available in 2026.

The Lexus LF-ZC is a 4.75 meter long, 1.88 meter wide and only 1.39 meter high electric liftback, which seems quite concrete given the fact that it is due to be launched in 2026. Of course it is a study model and you have to ignore the conceptual glimmers and trinkets, but Lexus is dead serious with this LF-ZC. The brand intends to make a huge impact in the EV field in the coming years. From 2035, the brand only wants to sell electric cars worldwide.

The Lexus LF-ZC – its name stands for Lexcuse Future Zero-emission catalyst – according to the brand, symbolizes what it will be doing in the EV field in the coming years. The EV has four-wheel drive, Steer-by-Wire technology and of course a fierce futuristic cockpit, of which a greatly toned-down version will probably reach the production stage. The cW value that Lexus mentions is remarkably low: 0.2. The LF-ZC has a gigantic glass roof that optically forms a whole with the windshield. This apparently provides good visibility all around.

All software on which the Intelligent Cockpit of the Lexus LF-ZC runs belongs to Lexus’ new Arene OS operating system. The LF-ZC is – how could it be otherwise – packed with artificial intelligence: called ‘Butler’. According to Lexus, the study model has its new generation of voice recognition software on board and that means that you should be able to chat to your Lexus better than ever before. No new model without a passage about the use of nature-friendly materials and so we read that the LF-LC also scores points in that area. Bamboo fibers have been incorporated into the car, among other things. The show car has a huge display and a screen for the co-driver that should mainly play a role in the field of entertainment.

Also interesting: according to Lexus, the new generation of EVs that it will eventually market will be made according to Tesla’s well-known gigacasting principle. The front, middle and rear parts are each cast from one piece. This provides extra stiffness, but also makes production more efficient.

And that’s two: LF-ZL

The second concept car from Lexus is called LF-ZL. That stands for Lexcuse Future Zero-emission Luxury. Lexus is releasing significantly less information about this new show car. With this EV, Lexus gives away what you can expect from its new future electric flagship.

The Lexus LF-ZL is 5.3 meters long, 2.02 meters wide and 1.7 meters high. Its wheelbase is a hefty 3.35 meters. In contrast to the LF-ZC, the LF-ZL is clearly more SUV-like. But with sliding doors at the back. It is not yet known when a production version will be released.
