With more torque and power, better performance and comfort, Triumph says it has raised the bar for medium-duty adventure motorcycles with the new Tiger 900 family. And its price, because from now on no less than € 16,595 has to be paid for the cheapest Tiger 900, rising to € 19,595 for the Rally Pro.
When Triumph launched the Tiger 800 in 2011, it was truly a real middle-class Allroad, with a price tag that was less than ten thousand euros at the time. With the arrival of the new Tiger 800 family in 2015, the price tag was also significantly adjusted, with the cheapest version available from € 11,390, rising to € 13,590.
After nine years the curtain fell on the Tiger 800, the mid-range Allroad was succeeded by the new Tiger 900 family, with the cheapest version costing € 13,600, 10 euros more than the most expensive version of the 2015 Tiger 800.
For the second generation Tiger 900, the price increase is even more shocking, with the cheapest version, the Tiger 900 GT, now available from € 16,595.00. An additional €2,100.00 must be paid for the GT Pro, while no less than €19,595 must be paid for the Tiger 900 Rally Pro. With the best intentions in the world, the Tiger 900 can no longer be called a middle-class motorcycle.
Well, that said, Triumph has given the Tiger 900 family a major update for the 2024 model year. Most remarkable is the increase in torque and power, Triumph claims a top power of 108 hp, an increase of 13%, and a maximum torque of 90 Nm, which means the engine can no longer be made suitable for the A2 driving license.
The reason? There is the Tiger 660 for A2 driver’s license holders. The same argument has also been used for the deletion of the lowered versions. To realize the lowered versions, the suspension travel had to be shortened and Triumph thought that was too big a compromise. “For those for whom the Tiger 900 is too high, we now have a good alternative with the Tiger 660,” said the Triumph spokesperson during the online presentation.
According to Triumph, the updated engine also offers more traction at the bottom. With its T-plane crankshaft and offset firing intervals, the Tiger 900 retains its characteristic and distinctive performance and sound, while delivering improved performance across the rev range and up to 9% greater fuel efficiency.
Completely new active safety features offer more options across the range, including better braking for greater control and shorter braking distances, according to Triumph. There’s also a new emergency braking warning system, which activates the hazard lights if you brake sharply and automatically deactivates when you pull away.
New lights create a striking silhouette, especially at night and in poor visibility. The new range also features a new 7″ TFT dashboard, with a new layout, new menu system and a new USB-C cockpit charger, as well as My Triumph Bluetooth connectivity as standard on all models.
The new saddle is flatter and roomier, with heated seats on both Pro models, specially designed for greater comfort over long distances. On all models the saddle is height adjustable by 20mm, and an optional heated low seat is available which allows the saddle height to be lowered by a further 20mm. This means that GT models have a potential seat height of 800mm, which, combined with the narrow seat width, improves accessibility.
A new damped handlebar mounting system provides a more comfortable ride, plus the improved handlebar position on the Rally Pro, with the handlebars 15mm closer to the rider, provides greater agility whether seated or standing.
The 2024 Tiger 900 family has been reduced to 3 models: the Tiger 900 GT, Tiger 900 GT Pro and Tiger Rally Pro. Each model has a specific adjustment of the suspension, equipment and electronics.
The GT is equipped with Marzocchi suspension that can be fully adjusted by hand, with a suspension travel of 180 mm at the front and 170 mm at the rear and a setup that is tailored to excellent road holding and comfort on long journeys. The GT Pro also has Marzocchi suspension, but now with electronically adjustable spring preload on the rear shock. The Rally Pro has Showa suspension, of course fully adjustable, with larger spring travel of 240 mm at the front and 230 mm at the rear.
Complementing this specific suspension, the GT and GT Pro feature lightweight cast alloy wheels, 19″ front and 17″ rear, for the perfect balance of handling and off-road capability. The Rally Pro uses tubeless spoke wheels with a 21″ front for pure off-road performance and has a wide choice of tires.
The three new Tiger 900 models are equipped with Brembo Stylema brake calipers, which are among the best in their class, providing effective stopping power and a refined lever feel that helps deliver powerful, smooth and controlled braking.

Optimized cornering ABS and traction control are standard on all three Tiger 900 models. Together with the ride-by-wire, the level of assistance can be adjusted with four different standard riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport and Off-Road.
The GT Pro has five riding modes – with the additional, selectable Rider mode – for fine-tuning based on the rider’s preferences and riding style. The Rally Pro has six riding modes, with the additional Off-Road Pro mode completely switching off the ABS system and traction control, so that the Tiger 900 Rally Pro can fully utilize its off-road capabilities.
The new, improved braking system provides an optimal balance between front and rear braking force, in harmony with the optimized cornering ABS system, to improve stability under hard braking and significantly shorten braking distances.
All three Tiger 900 models are equipped with Triumph’s Slip and Assist clutch, which, thanks to its Slip function, ensures that the rear wheel does not bounce when braking hard and downshifts smoothly, and is easier to operate thanks to the Assist. That’s especially nice in busy city traffic. The Pro models are also equipped with the Triumph Shift Assist system.
The My Triumph Connectivity System is now standard on all Tiger 900 models. Music, phone and navigation are all accessible via the new intuitive and easy-to-read 7″ TFT screen which is bonded to the glass for a sharp, non-reflective image. Grip and seat heating plus a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) are also included. standard on both Pro models.
