Geely Galaxy E8
Volvo, like brands such as Polestar, Lynk & Co and Zeekr, is part of Geely, which is almost bursting at the seams. However, Geely also sells cars under its own brand name. Today we are introduced to the Geely Galaxy E8, a brand new electric sedan.
Like Stellantis, Geely is a gigantic car company with a large arsenal of brands in its portfolio. The group not only owns Volvo, Polestar and Lynk & Co, but also controls Zeekr, Lotus, half of Smart and a whole range of brands that it only carries in China. Geely is not only a colossal holding company, but also a car brand. That car brand sells cars under model lines such as Emgrand, Bo and Bin, and one was added in February this year: Galaxy. With Galaxy, Geely focuses on relatively high-positioned models that are electrified to a greater or lesser extent. Geely already has two Galaxy models: the plug-in hybrid L6 and L7. That pair must now acknowledge their superiority in this brand new Geely Galaxy E8.
Unlike the two existing Galaxys, the Geely Galaxy E8 is not a plug-in hybrid, but a fully electric model. The appearance of the car might look familiar to you. This may be because AutoWeek was able to show you the E8 in a patent image from all angles in May. The Galaxy E8 is the production version of the concept car already shown during the introduction of Galaxy as a label. The car has flat and almost L-shaped lighting in the front, strikingly filled rear lights and, among other things, the recessed handles an appearance that is relatively free of visual fuss. The roofline of the car flows smoothly into the rear window and tailgate, so the E8 does not have a traditional sedan shape, but does have a sedan lid.
According to Geely, the drag coefficient of the Galaxy E8 is 0.199, making it comparable to that of cars like the Lucid Air. Galaxy has installed 158 LEDs in the relatively closed snout that allow the Galaxy E8 to greet people and other road users, simulate the movements of splashing water and even give an extensive light show. Go ahead.
The Geely Galaxy E8 extends over a distance of 5.01 meters, is 1.92 meters wide and 1.47 meters high. The wheelbase of the EV is 2.93 meters. In terms of size, you can compare it with cars such as the Tesla Model S. A variant of the SEA platform family is hidden beneath the sheet metal. Geely already uses SEA equipment on the Polestar 4, Zeekr 001, Zeekr 009, Zeekr variant of the SEA platform.
In the interior, Geely folds a display with a diagonal of no less than 1.13 meters. It is an 8K screen that combines the interior with it yoke-like steering wheel gives it a special appearance. There is also extensive artificial intelligence on board. Extensive technical specifications are not yet available, although the E8 would at least have a 272 hp powertrain and a variant with a range of almost 670 kilometers. Please note: according to the not so accurate Chinese measuring cycle.
