The Opel Grandland will be followed next year by a completely new SUV, which will in any case also include one or even more fully electric versions. AutoWeek can show you that electric replacement for the Opel Grandland today.
The SUV that started life in 2017 as Grandland Opel currently refers to that car as the ‘successor to the Grandland’ and that could easily mean that the car will be given a different name. The SUV that will replace the Opel Grandland will be a technical sister model of the new Peugeot 3008 and the yet-to-be-revealed new 5008. This indeed means that there will also be fully electric versions!
Unlike the (e-)3008, the Grandland successor will not be a ‘coupé SUV’.
The Opel Grandland, which will be retiring next year, shares its technical basis with the outgoing Peugeot 3008, the ‘new Grandland’ is in turn related to the already unveiled new Peugeot 3008. With its fairly steeply sloping roofline, this French SUV has become a different model than its predecessor. predecessor, but there will also be a new 5008 that will be a more spacious alternative. The successor to the Opel Grandland will not have a pushed-down roofline and will therefore differ less in shape from the model it will replace.
Under the carriage of the Grandland successor you will find the STLA Medium platform, just like under its Peugeot cousin. This basis not only makes mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid engine versions possible, but also variants with fully electric powertrains. So count on a set of electric ‘Opel Grandland Electric’. The new Peugeot e-3008 will in any case be available with a 98 kWh battery pack and will also have variants with four-wheel drive. Count on one Long Rangeversion with a range of about 700 kilometers. Charging speeds of up to 160 kW should be possible.
Looks like there was plenty of room in this new SUV.
Just like in the (electric) successor to the Opel Crossland – which will be a sister model of the new Citroën ë-C3 ‘Aircross’ – design elements from the Opel Experimental Concept are used in the design of the SUV that will replace the Grandland. The successor to the Opel Grandland will arrive in 2024, just like the new Peugeot 3008.
