Have you, like many other Dutch people, just returned home from work? That could very well be the case. This Tuesday’s evening rush hour was one of the busiest rush hours of the entire year…
The morning and evening rush hours are certainly not easy this year, but Tuesday evening’s rush hour was very busy. At its peak – already at 5:30 PM – there was no less than 1,122 kilometers of traffic jams in the Netherlands, according to ANWB Traffic Information. Yes: eleven hundred and twenty-two kilometers! This was the second busiest rush hour of the year.
The massive ‘train driving’ was mainly caused by heavy rainfall during the evening rush hour, but also by a number of accidents that made the normally heavy traffic even more intense. The fact that the Tuesday evening rush hour is a busy one is more the rule than the exception. Most traffic jams were in the west and south of the Netherlands.
