Up to more than 700 kilometers of range
For a long time, the Lucid Air was the only model from the American Lucid – also in the Netherlands. A second model has now been added: the Gravity. The Lucid Gravity is a new big electric SUV, but not just any one. According to its creators, the Lucid Gravity is the one with the longest range of all electric SUVs.
The Lucid Air is an electric sedan that is just a few centimeters long and 5 meters long, with which the American manufacturer managed to make quite an impression. Depending on the version chosen, the Air – the brand’s first car – is fast to lightning fast and can, in the best case, travel up to 840 kilometers on a full battery pack. Anyone who wanted an electric SUV from Lucid had to wait a long time. But there it is now: the Lucid Gravity.
AutoWeek previously showed you the Lucid Gravity on a patent image from all angles. Perhaps the appearance of the Gravity looks familiar to you. Of course, it also plays a role that the Gravity is quite recognizable as a sister model of the Air. The design language is quite calm for an SUV of this caliber. The Gravity has a distinctive front, handles recessed into the doors and even a tailgate with a shape and design reminiscent of that of its sedan brother. The Lucid Gravity is 5.02 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1.66 meters high. At 3.02 meters, the wheelbase is certainly generous on paper. In terms of size, the Lucid falls between cars such as the 4.86 meter long Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV and its bigger brother EQS SUV (5.13 meters).
Up to ‘more than 708 kilometers’ range
We do not yet have detailed specifications at the time of writing. We do know that the Lucid Gravity will have engine versions that are ‘more than 800 hp’. The Lucid Air is available as a 436 hp rear-wheel drive, as a 487, 629, 830 or 1,026 hp four-wheel drive with two electric motors. Above this is the crazy Lucid Air Sapphire, which with its three powerful electric motors that together produce 1,234 hp, is a direct competitor of the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The Lucid Gravity does not seem to be that intense, although it is always possible that later versions will be released that even exceed the 800 hp mark. The Gravity should be able to reach a speed of 97 km/h (60 mph) from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds.

According to Lucid, the Gravity’s electric range is ‘more than 708 kilometers’. That’s huge for a car of this size. Lucid calls the Gravity the ‘SUV with the longest range in the world.’ The Tesla Model Undoubtedly, the Gravity squeezes that range out of a huge battery pack. We don’t yet know how big the SUV’s batteries are. The Lucid Air is available with 88 kWh, 93 kWh, 112 kWh and even with 118 kWh of electric lung capacity. Fast charging is possible thanks to its 900v architecture with ‘more than 300 kW’. The Gravity’s efficiency is also aided by the way it cuts through the wind. The Cd value is on the low side at 0.24 and is equal to that of the Tesla Model S and Model X.

The Lucid Gravity seats up to seven passengers and has a dashboard with a 6k screen that, just like the one in the Air, is truly gigantic. The optically floating display in the Lucid Gravity is no less than 34 inches wide. One floor below we find a horizontally oriented infotainment screen that certainly does not seem on the small side. Lucid further pumps the Gravity with features such as an extensive audio system with 22 speakers.
Extensive technical data was missing at the time of writing. The same applies to information regarding the Dutch market. The international starting price must in any case be less than €74,000. The first copies will not be produced until the end of 2024. So just be patient.
