We finally know more about the Zeekr 007, the new electric sedan from Volvo’s sister brand with which it wants to challenge the established order in EV land. The Zeekr 007 should travel no less than 870 kilometers on a full battery, but you should take that with a grain of salt.

Zeekr is expanding its model range with an electric sedan that should become a formidable rival to cars such as the Volkswagen ID7, Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal. Geely’s brand decided to unveil the Zeekr 007 step by step and so we have already been able to show you the car several times, both from the outside and from the inside. Now the first definitive specifications are also trickling out into the world. These are quite impressive on paper. However, a hefty ‘but’ applies.

As AutoWeek recently reported, the Zeekr 007 is 4.87 meters long, 1.9 meters wide and 1.45 meters low. This makes it almost 20 centimeters longer than a Model 3, almost 10 centimeters shorter than a Volkswagen ID7 and only a few centimeters shorter than a BYD Seal. The sedan stands on what Geely calls the PMA2+ platform, a base with 800V on-board voltage that is derived from Geely’s modular SEA platform family.

What else does the Zeekr 007 have to offer in terms of EV? A lot on paper. There will be a rear-wheel drive version with a 421 hp electric motor and a 645 hp four-wheel drive variant with the same electric motor on the rear axle, supplemented with a 224 hp version that drives the front wheels. The least powerful but still quite motorized Zeekr 007 reaches a speed of 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.4 seconds. The all-wheel drive version should be able to reach 100 km/h in just – and that is very precise – 2.84 seconds. According to Zeekr, you should be able to recharge 610 kilometers of range in just fifteen minutes. Fiercely.

According to Zeekr, the 007 ‘is comingStandard Range’ – so to speak – already 688 kilometers on a full battery. The Long Range could wring no less than 870 kilometers from its battery pack. Please note: these are values determined according to the CLTC cycle and therefore not WLTP figures. In China, the Zeekr 007 will cost less than €29,300.

It is not yet known whether Zeekr – which offers the 001 and the X in the Netherlands – will also bring the 007 to our part of the world. Given Geely’s drive to expand, we wouldn’t be surprised if that is the case.
