Citroën My Ami Charleston (patent)

The small electric Citroën Ami’s name harkens back to a model from a bygone era. The city rascal now has a second designation that harkens back to a Citroën from the past. The Citroën Ami is being hoisted in a Charleston suit.

The Citroën Ami, which is not available in the Netherlands through official channels, already exists in many versions outside our country. For example, electric urban transport exists in France, among others, as My Ami Ami, as a more cheerfully decorated and more generously designed My Ami Orange, My Ami Grey, My Ami Pop and My Ami Tonic. The two-seater is also available as a My Ami Cargo van version, as a rugged My Ami Buggy and as My Ami For All for people with a physical disability. AutoWeek has discovered that another version may be added: the Charleston.

In the database of the European Patent Office, AutoWeek has found patent drawings of an Ami that is clearly inspired by the special Charleston edition of the Citroën 2CV. The 2CV Charleston started its life as a temporarily available special edition, but was later included in the regular delivery range of the Duck. The best-known color scheme in which the 2CV Charleston was available is of course the black-red variant. It is that color scheme in which the My Ami is carried out on these patent plates. ‘My Ami Charleston’ can be read where the license plate is normally located, as well as between the lighting at both the front and rear.

Citroen 2CV Charleston

The Citroën My Ami Charleston gets a fabric roof, classic-looking round side mirrors and upholstery on the seats, with which the French also refer to times long past. Whether the Citroën My Ami Charleston will go into production or whether we are dealing with a show model that has yet to be unveiled remains to be seen. In any case, you don’t have to expect him in the Netherlands.

UPDATE: What turns out? It is not a creation by Citroën itself, but a design proposal by the Italian designer Gaetano Massino, who indicates that he will show more of it soon.
