Nio and Geely will share battery replacement technology

Chinese cooperation should make battery changes more efficient

Nio and Geely will share battery replacement technology

Nio and car giant Geely will exchange batteries together. The goal is to manufacture batteries that can be easily screwed into both Nio’s and Geely products.

This involves an extremely broad collaboration, in which both developments and investments in this technology will be shared. Nio already has eight so-called Power Stations in the Netherlands, where drivers can install a full battery under their EV within a few minutes. The collaboration with Geely, the Chinese superpower responsible for Volvo and Zeekr, among others, should make this technology even more popular. According to William Li, CEO of Nio, the goal of the collaboration is to make changing your battery even better and more efficient.

It seems that Nio’s technology is becoming increasingly interesting for other car manufacturers. The young company has previously teamed up with the Chinese Changan, which is one of the largest car manufacturers in its own country and also wants to share in battery replacement technology. In the future, cars from Changan should also be able to go to a Nio Power Station.
