Especially due to the arrival of affordable models

The market share of fully electric passenger cars will grow by no less than 43 percent in 2024, trade organization ACEA predicts. This would mainly be due to the introduction of various affordable EVs.
The ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, but the abbreviation is French, so Association des Constructeurs Européens d’Automobiles) predicts that 43 percent more electric cars will be sold within the EU next year than in 2023. While the European market share of EVs this year is expected to end at or around 14 percent, next year 20 percent of cars sold in the EU should be fully electric. An increase of 43 percent, reports Automotive News.
ACEA president Luca De Meo tells the same Automotive News that the increase should mainly be due to the introduction of various affordable models. Or, as he puts it, models ‘at the heart of the market’. These models initially come from France. For example, there is the already unveiled Citroën ë-C3, but next year De Meo’s own Renault (he is CEO) should come with the new, electric Renault 5. A year later, so in 2025, the introduction of relatively affordable EVs continue. In that year, Volkswagen comes up with its ID.2, a car that is of course also followed by Cupra and Skoda.
