‘Tesla Model Y almost certainly number 1 in Europe’

The Tesla Model Y was almost certainly the best-selling car in Europe in 2023. This is evident from figures from Dataforce, seen by Autonews.

The day you knew would come is finally here. The Tesla Model Y was almost certainly the best-selling car in Europe last year. That reports Autonews based on figures from Dataforce. This has now covered 97 percent of the market and shows that the Model Y has an ‘unbreakable’ lead over the Dacia Sandero. There are according to Autonews 254,822 Tesla’s Model Y were sold in that 97 percent of the European market, compared to 235,893 Dacia’s Sandero. Indeed, it does not seem likely that there is a difference of almost 20,000 cars in that last three percent in favor of the Dacia.

The number 1 position in Europe has earned the Tesla Model Y a number of notable titles. This makes it the first fully electric car ever to finish at the top. Furthermore, it is according to Autonews the first non-European car in ‘the modern era’ to achieve this. Indeed, it has always been a European car for at least fifty years. What was the last non-European top performer for the Model Y? If you know, you can say it. Maybe the Ford Model T?

Tesla also hopes to achieve success with the Model Y in 2024. In the Netherlands, prices have at least been cut again to stimulate sales and a facelift is in the pipeline. It may appear as soon as this year.
