Volvo much sought after PHEV

Around this time last year, AutoWeek broke the news that hybrid took second place on the list of most sought-after fuel types for used cars. Nothing has changed in that pecking order, even though the second-hand diesel engine seems to be improving somewhat and still runs better than a used EV. But if we zoom in on the hybrid used car, what stands out? One thing is certain: the Dutch hybrid buyer loves Toyotas.
With high fuel prices for petrol cars and high purchase prices for electric cars,
hybrid supply seems to be an ideal middle ground. Of course, it often remains a drive

It is clear in the used car market that many people like this and so the hybrid drive is one
popular. But which cars performed best in 2023?
Toyota all the way
A look at the top ten most searched for hybrid used cars at Gaspedal.nl shows that Toyota
goes like crazy. The most searched for hybrid car of 2023 is the Toyota Yaris, followed by
the Toyota RAV4. The Japanese brand also appears in the top ten with the Corolla (sixth place),
the C-HR (seventh place) and the Auris (eighth place). Another honorable mention goes to
Volvo, which has three cars on the list of the ten most sought-after hybrid used cars. The
Volvo XC60 is in fourth place, the V60 and XC40 in ninth and tenth places respectively.
The full top ten is as follows:
1.Toyota Yaris
2.Toyota RAV4
3. Kia Niro
4.Volvo XC60
5. Volkswagen Golf
6. Toyota Corolla
7. Toyota C-HR
8. Toyota Auris
9.Volvo V60
10.Volvo XC40
An important note on this list: we do not distinguish between plug-in hybrid
(PHEV), mild hybrid (MEV) and full hybrid (HEV). The Golf and the Volvos in this list are mainly plug-in hybrids.
What happened to the addition bangers?
When the hybrid car was still a bit less numerous and leasing such a model was in terms of
addition particularly attractive, various models were particularly popular. We’ll take two
from: the Opel Ampera and the Mitsubishi Outlander. Astute readers have noticed that none of
these two former addition stunners are in the top ten. So where are they? Let’s
starting with the Outlander, which comes in a respectable sixteenth place. A fine one
place for a great car, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea due to its dimensions. The
Ampera? We don’t even find them in the top hundred. Once a forerunner in the segment,
now condemned to a place deep in the shadows of the used car market. And no, the Chevrolet
Volt is certainly not doing any better.

Demand for hybrid used cars remains approximately the same
If we look at the average number of searches for a hybrid used car,
we see that demand has remained more or less stable in 2023. Gaspedal.nl receives per
about six thousand visitors every month who find the site via a Google search for a
used car with hybrid drive. That was the case in January and that was more or less the case in December
more equal.
