Electric Brands proves that it is not that easy to get things on track as a freshly established start-up. The company behind the likeable electric Xbus and the equally cuddly Isetta clone Evetta has filed for bankruptcy. However, there is hope on the horizon.

Things are certainly not going well for Electric Brands. The ambitious company behind the Xbus and Evetta electric reinterpretation of the Isetta – not to be confused with the Microlino – has filed for bankruptcy at the Darmstad court. The court struck a blow against that.

According to the German company, ‘the weakened economy and the increase in development costs’ have ensured that the financial picture could no longer be straightened out. For the time being, Electric Brands may try to get things back on track under supervision. A lawyer has been appointed as provisional administrator.

Max Brandt – CEO of Electric Brands – is hopeful. According to Brandt, Electric Brands is making good progress, there is money available to pay the salaries of employees in the coming months and it will simply bring a ‘lightweight vehicle’ onto the market within the next few months. The CEO does not specify which one exactly. Electric Brands is the company behind, among others, this Xbus, born as eBussy, and this Evetta.
