Big surprise

The big surprise of the State of Play broadcast was the release of the demo and Final Trailer, which offers a compelling look at the legendary adventure that awaits players. The trailer shows the heroes chasing Sephiroth and the challenges they must overcome to save the planet from the machines. The demo features breathtaking landscapes and reimagined locations such as the Temple of the Ancients, numerous mini-games such as 3D Brawler, Chocobo Racing and G-Bike, and the return of beloved characters such as SOLDIER hero Zack Fair, spontaneous Turk Reno and Roche, the thrill-seeking SOLDIER 3rd class. In addition, the event showcased the exciting combat system, with new Synergy Abilities and the acclaimed combination of real-time action with strategic commands.

The “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim” demo includes an extended flashback section, in which Cloud Strife recalls an earlier mission in his SOLDIER career – “the Nibelheim Incident.” This mission takes place five years earlier, prior to the game’s developments. Take on the role of a younger version of protagonist Cloud Strife and the legendary Sephiroth as these two SOLDIER units investigate the sudden appearance of monsters in the mountains above Cloud’s hometown. In doing so, they encounter a dark truth that will forever change the course of their lives and the fate of the planet.

Once players complete the “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim” content, the demo will receive an update on February 21 that will open the door to another playable section, titled “Dawn of a New Era in Junon.” In this preview section, created especially for the demo, players can explore a small part of the game’s massive world around the port city of Junon. Since the Junon area in the demo has been modified to make the content more compact, progress made in the demo cannot be carried over to the full game. The demo does offer players the opportunity to get familiar with new forms of exploration, new synergy attacks and how they can strengthen the relationships between characters through fighting.

Players with save data from the demo will receive two rewards in the full version: the Kupo Charm and the Survival Set. These players can also skip the sections they already played in the “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim” demo. To receive these benefits, players must ensure their game is updated to the latest version.
