Lotus’ first sedan since the Omega/Carlton is ready for next winter. The electric Lotus Emeya has been subjected to a series of winter tests and is preparing for its market introduction.

On the threshold of autumn, the curtain went up on the Lotus Emeya, a powerful electric four-door, completely designed according to Lotus’ latest style. The up to 918 hp Emeya should sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in about 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 256 km/h. You should also be able to drive about 490 kilometers with a full 102 kWh battery and possibly about 600 kilometers with a milder version. Values that the Lotus Emeya in these new photos probably did not achieve in winter conditions.

No, Lotus was probably not looking for maximum performance in the cold with the Emeya, but the manufacturer was mainly concerned with testing the effects of cold on various functions. Temperatures of -25 degrees Celsius were measured during testing in Ivalo, Finland, and the car was also placed in a local freezer for -40 degrees Celsius. Lotus looked at the effects of this on the assistance systems, the charging capacity of the battery and the climate control in the car. The manufacturer also tested how the Emeya transfers its enormous power to the slippery surface and whether preheating the car is effective enough.

According to Lotus, everything went well and the car is now almost ready for its market introduction. That will take place later this year, so it won’t be until next winter that the Emeya can prove itself to customers in the cold.
