…with a bit of G-class

Ineos comes with its second model. After the Grenadier, which deliberately resembles the Land Rover Defender, it is now time for the Ineos Fusulier. It is potentially more interesting for the Netherlands because, you guessed it, it is fully electric.
The Ineos Grenadier was first shown in 2020 and not only resembles the original version of the Land Rover Defender, but should also replace that car in a sense. Of course Land Rover has its own new Defender, but Ineos founder Jim Ratcliffe apparently thought that was lame. The Grenadier is more modern than a real old Defender, but in general it looks like two peas in a pod. There is also a pick-up based on the Grenadier, the Quartermaster.
And now Grenadier and Quartermaster are joined by another model from Ineos Automotive, a division of the British chemical company Ineos. The Ineos Fusilier, like the Grenadier, is a true terrain executioner, and here too we still see some of the basic (shoulder) lines of the Defender. Yet it is not nearly as much of a Defender copy as the Grenadier and the proportions are much more ‘personal’. In the nose we see a lot of G-class, which is mainly due to the layout and shape of the front bumper and the interplay between headlights and grille. The Fusilier is also somewhat smaller than the Grenadier, both in length and height.
However, the biggest difference between the Grenadier and this new Fusilier is under the skin. While the Grenadier has powerful combustion engines from BMW under the hood, the previously announced Fusilier is fully electric. According to its makers, it is on a unique ‘skateboard’ platform that is not yet specified by Ineos. This will reportedly follow later this year, when we will also hear when we can expect the Ineos Fusilier at the dealer. In the Netherlands, the dealer in question is Hedin Automotive in Houten, where they of course also have the well-known Grenadier.
