Less eccentric family expansion
Only one model of the Chinese Hongqi is available in the Netherlands. This year two models will be added and they could well be the Hongqi E-H7 and E-HS7. Are you SUV-tired? Don’t worry, one of the two is an electric sedan.
In the Netherlands, the impressive E-HS9 is the only Hongqi in the price lists. This huge electric SUV will be joined in Europe this year by two new models, which should be a size smaller than the more than 5.2 meter long E-HS9. We heard this at the end of last year. AutoWeek has obtained the first information about two new smaller models that together could easily form the announced new duo.

The new Hongqi duo is not really small, by the way. We start with the E-HS7, which is an SUV after all and can be most easily compared with the well-known E-HS9. Photos and information obtained by AutoWeek from the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show that the E-HS7 is 4.93 meters long, 1.95 meters wide and 1.68 meters high. That makes it 28 centimeters shorter, 6 centimeters narrower and 5 centimeters lower than its big brother. Its wheelbase is exactly three meters. The E-HS9 has an immense 3.11 meters between the front and rear axles.
The Hongqi E-HS7 has a 344 hp electric motor on the rear axle. There is also a four-wheel drive version that, in addition to the same unit on the rear axle, has a 275 hp electric heart on the front axle. The vehicle weight is downright heavy at a minimum of 2,350 kilos.
Hongqi EHS7
Those who are tired of all the SUVs can console themselves with the knowledge that Hongqi has a new electric sedan ready. It is called E-H7 and has been visualized by the manufacturer itself. AutoWeek can also share the first specifications of this. The Hongqi E-H7 is 4.98 meters long, 1.92 meters wide and 1.49 meters high. It is of course technically related to the E-HS7 and therefore has the same 3-meter wheelbase. Just like its SUV brother, the E-H7 is available as a 344 hp rear-wheel drive and as a four-wheel drive with a 275 hp electric motor on the front axle. The Hongqi E-H7 weighs at least 2,240 kilos. In terms of size, you can compare the E-H7 with the Volkswagen ID7 and Nio ET7. Not a fan of the heavy fencing in the front of the E-HS9? Good news: both the E-H7 and E-HS7 do not get that.
