Also to the Netherlands!

The plug-in hybrid EHS is the only MG in the Netherlands that is not fully electric. That SUV will be joined by this brand new MG 3, but it operates in a completely different segment. The MG 3 is a direct attack on the Dacia Sandero and the Volkswagen Polo, although the Chinese clearly opts for the affordable side, just like the Sandero.
MG focuses almost entirely on the sale of electric models in the Netherlands. The only exception within the rapidly growing MG family is the EHS, because it is, after all, a plug-in hybrid SUV. MG presented the brand new 3 during the Geneva Motor Show. Unlike its predecessor, the new MG 3 is coming to the Netherlands and could well become a model that can win over private car buyers in particular. After all, the MG 3 is not an electric SUV or crossover, but ‘just’ a new hatchback with electrified combustion engines. The MG 3 is a compact hatchback in what we call the B-segment and seems to be a direct competitor of the Dacia Sandero.
MG 3.
Although the MG 3 is now officially on stage in Geneva, AutoWeek was already able to show you its appearance extensively from all angles. The MG 3 is 4.11 meters long, 1.78 meters wide and 1.5 meters high. For comparison: the Dacia Sandero is about 4.09 meters long, a Volkswagen Polo 4.05 meters. The MG 3 has a wheelbase of 2.57 meters, while the Sandero and Polo successively have 2.6 and about 2.55 meters between the front and rear axles.
The MG 3 is neither a plug-in hybrid nor a mild hybrid. The compact hatchback has a full-fledged hybrid powertrain. Its full name is MG 3 Hybrid+. The powertrain consists of a 102 hp and 128 Nm strong 1.5 four-cylinder that works together with a 136 hp and 250 Nm strong electric motor. The system power is a generous 194 hp. With that muscle power, the MG 3 reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in exactly 8 seconds. Its top speed is 171 km/h. There is a small 1.83 kWh battery under the back seat. The luggage compartment swallows 293 liters. This means he has to tolerate the Sandero (328 litres) and the Polo (355 litres). However, the fully hybrid powertrain is a special offering in this segment, although we know it from the Toyota Yaris. The average consumption of the MG 3 should be 4.4 l/100 km.
MG 3.
The MG 3 has a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an infotainment screen with a diagonal of 10.25 inches as standard. Depending on the version, the MG 3 has a 360-degree camera, keyless entry, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, adaptive cruise control and even Traffic Jam Assist are also available.
The MG 3 will definitely come to the Netherlands. The outgoing model, which was never delivered in the Netherlands, is now about 13 years old. Information regarding the Dutch market will follow soon.
