No resistance

European car manufacturers will make no attempts to stop or delay European plans for a sales ban on cars with combustion engines. So it is and will remain 2035.
From 2035 onwards, the European Union will no longer be allowed to sell cars with combustion engines on a large scale. We have stated this definitively not once, but even twice, and yet in recent months some fumbling has been observed in the apparently solid foundation of this plan. German and Italian car manufacturers in particular are not happy about it and argue that the market in 2035 is not yet ready for such a large-scale switch. Car manufacturers are also angry that they have been forced to invest billions in making combustion engines cleaner, which will soon be banned and argue that the customer, not the government, should determine when ‘fully electric’ is appropriate.
These are serious objections, coming from parties that have a major influence on the economic situation in the countries where they are located. However, car manufacturers will no longer oppose the European plans, reports Automotive News. None other than Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault and president of the European car manufacturers’ organization ACEA, is reported to have said: “We are not disputing 2035. Now we have to get started!”
De Meo calls 2035 “potentially feasible”, but adds that the right conditions must be created for this. Only time will tell whether this will succeed.
