Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 recall: front fork caps may become loose

Triumph has issued a recall for the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660. The threads on the front fork caps may not have been cut correctly, causing them to become loose, which has a serious effect on the suspension. In a worst-case scenario, it could even lead to a crash.

In July 2022, Triumph received a first warranty claim from China regarding a front fork cap that had become loose. In November that year, Triumph received a second claim from China, followed by another 4 claims in the period April – August 2023, all from China. In September, Triumph started an in-depth investigation, together with the supplier, and the requested parts were examined.

The investigation revealed that during the machining of the caps, due to an error in the CNC process, the threads were not cut deep enough, causing them to become loose. All claims originate solely from China, as far as Triumph is aware it has not resulted in any accidents or injuries.

The recall concerns the Trident 660 with production dates from April 28, 2022 to May 18, 2022, and the Tiger Sport 660 with production dates from May 5, 2022 to May 24, 2022. The front fork caps will be replaced by new ones at the Triumph dealer. with the correct thread.
