It took a while, but the Polestar 3 has finally gone into production. The electric SUV was announced a year and a half ago. Only now have the first copies been produced.
To unveil the Polestar 3, we have to go back in time about a year and a half. The Polestar 3 already made its debut in October 2022. According to the original plan, production of the electric SUV would start in mid-2023 in Chengdu, China. Additional time was required to develop the software of the SPA2 platform that the Polestar 3 uses. The result: the start of production was postponed. Now – a lot later than planned – the Polestar 3 is finally ready for production.
The first copies of the Polestar 3 were produced in Chengdu, China. From the middle of this year, the electric SUV will also roll off the production line in Ridgeville, South Carolina, in the US.
The 4.9 meter long Polestar 3 is Polestar’s top model for the time being. The SUV is available from €89,900. For that amount you get the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor with two powerful electric motors that together produce 489 hp. Its 111 kWh battery is good for a range of up to 628 kilometers. One step above is the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack. It also has the 111 kWh battery, but its two electric motors together produce 517 hp. The range of this version: 561 kilometers.
