Smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has taken its first big step in the automotive industry: it is introducing the SU7 in its home country of China. That Porsche Taycan-like EV turns out to be quite competitively priced.

One of the first cars unveiled this year was the Xiaomi SU7. It not only looks a bit like the Porsche Taycan, but is also approximately the same size and certainly comes into its territory in terms of performance as the 673 hp Max top version. Yet Xiaomi is mainly targeting the Tesla Model 3. One thing is certain, on paper the SU7 is undoubtedly impressive. Also in terms of driving range; According to the not very accurate CLTC cycle, you should be able to cover 668 to 800 km with a full battery. Leave about 600 to 700 km of that, according to WLTP. Here you can read more about what the SU7 has to offer.

It is now also known what Xiaomi is asking for the SU7 in China. It starts at just €28,000 and then you have the 299 hp entry-level car. For comparison: the Tesla Model 3 is at least €3,800 more expensive there. The Chinese have to shell out roughly €38,500 for the fantastic top version of the Xiaomi SU7. You can bet that the Xiaomi SU7 will become more expensive outside China, but it will probably remain a competitive offer there too. At least if the SU7 leaves China. Xiaomi has not yet formally announced any expansion plans, although we do expect that exports will eventually be launched.
