The Calculator is standard on every iPhone and the app is very useful if you need to calculate something quickly. But if you want to perform difficult calculations, such as taking square roots, you do not have an option for this as standard. But this trick gives you a lot more options in the Calculator app, including taking square roots. You do this in the following way:

- Launch the Calculator app on your iPhone;
- Turn your iPhone a quarter turn to the left (or right);
- The Calculator app now has many more features.
Also useful to know: backspace function
There is another useful function on the Calculator. Did you know, for example, that it is possible to remove a number. You then have a kind of Backspace key in the app.
When you swipe left or right over the entered numbers after entering a series of numbers, the last number entered will disappear again. You no longer have to retype the whole number when you make a mistake.
Arithmetic without a calculator
There is also a way to quickly calculate something without using the Calculator app on your iPhone.
- Swipe down in the middle of the home screen;
- The search bar appears in the image;
- Type the calculation you want to calculate in the search bar;
- The outcome will automatically appear on screen, you don’t even have to tap Enter.
