Zero combustion engines, Zero in the name

Of the many brands that the Chinese colossus Geely has in its portfolio, Lynk & Co is one of the few that does not yet have a fully electric car in its range. But that’s going to change. The first photos of Lynk & Co’s first electric car have been released to the world via Chinese social media.
Geely’s Lynk & Co is doing quite good business in Europe with the 01. The plug-in hybrid SUV is so far the only Lynk & Co model here, but in its home country China it has an extensive model range. The Lynk & Co 01 has 02, 03, 05, 06, 07, 08 and 09 brothers and sisters. Most of them are SUVs or crossovers, but Lynk & Co also sells a hatchback and a sedan. The 01 is by no means the only plug-in hybrid of the Lynk & Co family. When it comes to electrification, the brand seems to be quite on the ball. Apparently, because unlike other Geely brands such as Volvo, Zeekr and even Lotus, Lynk & Co does not yet have a single fully electric car on the menu. Flynn Chen – high in the marketing tree at Lynk & Co – shares a set of images via Weibo of Lynk & Co’s first EV, a car that does and does not have a number in its name. His name is Zero.
The Lynk & Co Zero seems to be a fairly stretched electric sedan. We do not yet have extensive technical specifications, but it is inevitable that the Zero, like cars such as the Zeekr 001, Polestar 4 and the yet to be unveiled Polestar 5, will be placed on a large variant of the SEA platform. Lynk & Co are currently busy putting the car through its paces around the Huangshan mountain range. Lynk & Co promises that the Zero will benefit from the experiences it gained with the 03 in the WCTR championship. So you can at least count on a sharply steering EV.
It is certainly not inconceivable that the Lynk & Co Zero will also come to Europe in the future. Last year, former Lynk & Co CEO Alain Visser told AutoWeek that the brand will launch its first EV in Europe in 2024. This should be a car that is first presented in Europe and later goes to China. It cannot be ruled out that the newcomer is this Zero.
