With the brand new Ypsilon presented on Valentine’s Day, the starting gun sounded in Italy for Lancia’s big return. For a long time, Lancia was only active in its home country Italy. Although the old Ypsilon was still doing very good business there, after about thirteen years it was finally time for renewal. The brand new Lancia Ypsilon is an extravagantly designed hatchback that shares its technology with countless other compact models from the Stellantis brands. To be more precise: it is the direct cousin of the Opel Corsa and the Peugeot 208. Just like those two, the Lancia Ypsilon is also available with mild-hybrid petrol engines and fully electric powertrains. We can now tell you the Dutch prices of both engine versions. And they are interesting.
The mild-hybrid Lancia Ypsilon has the 100 hp mild-hybrid hardware from Stellantis on board, a piece of technology that you also find in the 208 and the Corsa. The mild-hybrid Lancia Ypsilon – always with six-speed automatic transmission – is available from €29,700 and is also available as a more lavishly equipped Ypsilon LX (€32,700) and as an equally priced top version that is as temporary as its Italian name: Edizione Cassina Limitata. The entry-level mild-hybrid is €1,500 more expensive than the cheapest mild-hybrid Peugeot 208 and €2,200 more expensive than the Opel Corsa. Up to 402 kilometers of range from €35,400
While the electric Peugeot e-208 in most cases has the 136 hp drivetrain with 50 kWh and the Opel Corsa Electric also starts with that combination, Lancia is currently only launching the electric Ypsilon on the market with a 156 hp electric motor and 51 kWh battery. off. The electric ‘Y-tje’, fully called Lancia Ypsilon Electric, is available in an unnamed basic version from €35,400 and is also available as an LX (€38,400) and Edizione Cassina Limitata (€39,500). What does the electric Lancia Ypsilon Electric have to offer? A range of 402 kilometers.
Do you want a Peugeot e-208 with this more powerful and efficient drivetrain? Then you will spend at least €41,470. That is clearly more than €35,400, but the 208 is immediately decked out as the top GT version. The provisional top version of the Ypsilon Electric remains price-wise below that. The Opel Corsa Electric is also available with the 156 hp engine and the 51 kWh battery and, just like its French cousin, you immediately get the top version: the GS. It costs €37,999 and is therefore cheaper than the brand new Italian in top gear. The Lancia Ypsilon therefore immediately offers the more powerful electric motor and battery from the basic version.
Equipment
The basic version, simply called Ypsilon, has standard electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, automatic air conditioning, Keyless Start, a multifunctional steering wheel and not only a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, but also an infotainment screen with the same diagonal. Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Alert, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, rear parking sensors and Forward Collision Warning are also part of the entry-level party.
The Ypsilon LX of course adds a few things to this. Including: mood lighting, electrically folding exterior mirrors, 17-inch alloys, an automatically dimming interior mirror, rear privacy glass, two USB-C connections and an induction charger. From this version onwards, the Ypsilon LX also offers what Lancia calls SALA, a piece of software that allows you to change the atmosphere and temperature in the interior at the touch of a button.
Top version Edizione Limitata Cassina is more than just a temporary introductory version. He is really limited. The version is available for the mild-hybrid Ypsilon and for the electric Ypsilon Electric, but only 1,906 copies of both versions will be available. Once these have been forgiven, the Edizione Cassina takes its place. Not Limitata’d So. The Edizione Limitata Cassina has blue velvet interior upholstery and quite a few blue accents throughout the rest of the interior. This is also the version you need if you want the ‘table’ that Lancia was already paying attention to before the introduction of the Ypsilon. More pampering comes in this version in the form of an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with massage function, seat heating in the front, special 17-inch alloy wheels and a real ‘coffee table’ in the interior. You also get access to Lane Centering that works together with the adaptive cruise control.
