Hasty speed is rarely good or is it just a nice drive?

If it is up to the new cabinet, the maximum speed on highways will be increased to 130 km/h where possible. Some people can’t wait to go faster again, others are now completely used to the regular 100 km/h between 6 am and 7 pm. High time for the following statement: ‘Increasing the maximum speed on the highways to 130 km/h: there is no need!’
The so-called Main Line Agreement that the PVV, VVD, NSC and BBB agreed on had a lot of impact. On AutoWeek.nl the attention is of course not on migration plans or with regard to the minimum, but only on the things that will change for the motorist. There turned out to be quite a few. For example, the subsidy schemes for new and used electric cars will be over by 2025, the temporary discount on fuel excise duties will be extended and the new government wants to investigate whether and how the establishment of zero-emission zones can be postponed. The absolute highlight is perhaps the intention to increase the maximum speed on the highways to 130 km/h where possible. You thought something of that.
You might expect that many people were eager to drive 130 km/h again. When the maximum speed on Dutch highways was lowered to 100 km/h during the day in March 2020, it set off the (pricked) tongues considerably. However, we also read many responses from people who indicate that they are now used to 100 km/h or who see dangers in increasing the maximum speed. Just like Veilig Verkeer Nederland, by the way. There are countless reasons to be for or against increasing the permitted maximum speed.
We are curious what you think of the proposed increase in the maximum speed to 130 km/h. Can’t you wait to be able to drive 130 km/h again during the day? Maybe you think 100 km/h is too fast, or maybe the range of your electric car decreases too quickly. Perhaps you find the fuel prices too high to drive over the asphalt at 130 km/h as standard? In short, time for a voting round in which we make the following statement:
Increase maximum speed to 130 km/h: there is no need for it!
You can provide explanations and arguments in the comments. As always, your opinion does not have to be someone else’s. If all goes well, we are all on AutoWeek.nl because we have a thing about cars, so be a little kind to each other and try not to be too pushy. The statement is not necessarily in accordance with the position of AutoWeek or the editorial staff.
