Callum Skye

You know Ian Callum mainly for his Aston Martin and Jaguar designs, but the drawing master also takes up the pencil for his own car brand Callum. We now get to see more of the Callum Skye, the small manufacturer’s first truly own car.

Ian Callum is a big name in the car world. The now 69-year-old Scot is responsible for the designs of many well-known models. From the Aston Martin DB7 to the Ford Puma and from the Aston Martin Vanquish and DB9 to the Jaguars XK, XF (2008), XJ (2009) and F-Type. The top designer has now had his own car brand: Callum. The Callum adventure began with the Vanquish 25, a creation that was in fact little more than a modified Aston Martin Vanquish. However, Callum also comes with his own car: the Skye. A car of a completely different order than the Vanquish, but therefore no less interesting.

The Callum Skye will be a idiosyncratic electric off-roader that is simultaneously fierce and modest. The 4.05 meter long and 1.9 meter wide electric adventurer weighs 1,150 kilos and should be able to reach 97 km/h (60 mph) from a standstill in less than 4 seconds. Modesty is therefore within his reach. To keep the weight low, Callum ‘only’ installs a 42 kWh battery in the Skye, a package that should give the car a modest range of 274 kilometers. Callum also promises a variant with one ”ultra fast charging battery’ which can be fully charged ‘in ten minutes’. It doesn’t say anything else about that yet.

For the first time, Callum releases images of the Skye’s interior. The Callum Skye is a so-called 2+2 and that means that there are seats in the back, but they are actually intended for children. The rear seats are also removable. Practical! The Skye gets a relatively simple-looking cockpit in which almost all controls are housed in a vertical strip in the center console.

According to its creators, the Callum Skye will cost between €93,500 and €128,500. More details will follow later this year.
