Cheaper as a plug-in and up to over 60 kilometers of electric range

The new Hyundai Santa Fe is a real attention-grabber in terms of design. It is the brand new Santa Fe, always electrified in the Netherlands, that has now been added to the price list in the Netherlands. The new Hyundai Santa Fe is available as a hybrid from just under 60 grand and changes owners as a plug-in hybrid from just a few hundred euros more. With the same design, the plug-in is even cheaper.
The time when Hyundai models were modestly presented with a design that would offend almost no one is long behind us. The brand has built up mountains of self-confidence in recent years, resulting in models being fitted with a daring coat more than once. Just look at the Ioniq models, but also at the Kona. The new Hyundai Santa Fe, which was presented mid-last year and has now appeared on the price list in the Netherlands, is overloaded with influences from the Seven Concept and is therefore a striking appearance, to say the least. The equally angular and large SUV is available in the Netherlands from €59,595.
Hybrid
The starting price of €59,595 applies to an entry-level Comfort Hyundai Santa Fe with a hybrid drivetrain. It consists of a 158 hp and 265 Nm strong 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine that is supported by a 60 hp and 265 Nm strong electric motor. The system power is 215 hp and 367 Nm. The 1,900 kilo Santa Fe with this hybrid drivetrain always has front-wheel drive and is also always available as a seven-seater. From a standstill you can reach a speed of 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds. In addition to Comfort, it is also available as more comprehensively equipped Comfort Smart, Premium and Premium Sky.

Plug-in hybrid
For those for whom a hybrid Hyundai Santa Fe is not electrified enough, Hyundai also has a plug-in hybrid powertrain on the menu. The 4.83 meter long SUV with plug-in hybrid hardware has the same 158 hp 1.6 T-GDI as the hybrid variant, but that is combined with 91 hp and 304 Nm of electric power. The system power, at 252 hp and 367 Nm, is therefore higher than that of the hybrid variant. This plug-in has a 13.8 kWh battery pack on board that can be fully charged with a maximum of 7.2 kW with fresh electricity. The 0-100 sprint is completed in 9.3 seconds, the top speed is 180 km/h, just like that of the hybrid Santa Fe. The electric range is set at a usable 62 kilometers. Of course, the vehicle weight is higher. With six seats it weighs 2,075 kilos, as a seven-seater it weighs 2,090 kilos. Wait, two configurations? Certainly!
The plug-in hybrid Hyundai Santa Fe is available as a seven- and six-seater. The seven-seater is available from the Comfort Smart version and costs €59,995. This makes the plug-in hybrid Santa Fe only €400 more expensive than a hybrid Santa Fe, and you also get a higher equipment level for that. The hybrid Santa Fe is even more expensive for the same version (Comfort Smart: €61,995). This is of course due to its lower CO2 emissions on paper and therefore smaller ‘bpm fine’. The Santa Fe with plug is also available with six seats. However, then you are immediately dependent on the top Black Line version (€68,995).

Equipment
The basic version, called Comfort, has 18-inch alloys, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with navigation, electrically folding exterior mirrors, a reversing camera, cruise control with stop & go function, an induction charger, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The instruments in this variant are not fully digital (4-inch display). More standard pampering comes in the form of three-zone climate control, welcome lighting, Highway Driving Assist, a rain sensor, parking beepers all around, automatic high beams and an electrically operated tailgate.
The Comfort Smart version adds, among other things, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, electrically adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, a fully (12.3-inch) digital instrument cluster, nicer upholstery on the inside of the window pillars, mood lighting, privacy glass, a leather-covered steering wheel, suede headliner, tinted windows and sun blinds in the rear doors. The Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid in Comfort Smart trim has 20-inch light alloy, but has to make do without the suede interior finish.
Regardless of the chosen engine version, the Premium has 20-inch wheels, but also has features such as Blind Spot View Monitor, a digital interior mirror, a head-up display and ventilated front seats. A 220v connection? Present. As well as roof rails, Highway Driving Assist 2, heated rear seats, a 360-degree camera and automatic rear height control. From this version onwards, the plug-in hybrid Hyundai Santa Fe also have suede interior trim. The Premium Sky version, in turn, adds a sliding/tilting glass roof at the front and a fixed glass roof at the rear.
Subtopper Premium Plus adds an extensive Bose audio system, two induction chargers in the front, electrically adjustable seats with memory function, an electrically adjustable steering wheel with memory function, Digital Key 2 and special door frames. The top version Black Line can be recognized by – as its name suggests – 20-inch black alloy, a series of black exterior accents. Also present on this variant: nappa leather upholstery, front seats with lounge mode, skid plates and – striking – a handle in the C-pillar so that you can reach the roof more easily.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe will be available in dealers from this summer. Here and here you can read more about the distinct and, above all, angular new Santa Fe.
