The Erazer brand (Lenovo subsidiary) releases laptops, gaming PCs and accessories that are specially designed for gamers. Design and screen
The design is fully tailored to the gaming world with a cool appearance and mechanical Cherry keyboard with RGB lighting. The Beast X40 gaming laptop measures 383 x 272 x 33 mm and weighs 2.9 kg.
The screen is a 17-inch IPS screen with 2560 x 1600 pixels (QHD+) and has a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz. The color coverage is 99.2% SRGB and the maximum brightness is 390 nits, a great combination for a gaming laptop.
Technology
The workhorse is the Intel Core i9-14900HX with 2.2 GHz with boost to 5.8 GHz, and an internal UHD 770 graphics controller but also a separate laptop-specific Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 with 16GB of memory. The processor memory is 32GB DDR5/5600MHz and a 2x 1TB PCIe4 SSD is available for data. That is a particularly nice combination for top gaming performance; Furthermore, many connections, including 2.5Gbps Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6E. An optional water cooler can be supplied that further increases the performance of this fast laptop: with this RGB water cooler, the processor can achieve approximately 10% higher speed at full load and therefore perform even better.
Conclusion
This gaming laptop with Windows 11 is specifically for gaming, but also suitable for (standard) office work and multimedia processing. It is also useful that the internal components can be replaced. The test results look great for various applications. For professional multimedia processing, an external screen with wider (DCI-P3) color coverage will be desirable. The battery life is mediocre and there can be quite a bit of fan noise under heavy load.
