Oppo regularly releases new smartphones and pcactive.nl publishes the review, such as the Oppo Reno11 F 5G. And last week you could read in this article about the new Oppo Find X8 Pro that the review about this Oppo Find X8 Pro would soon be available on pcactive.nl site. Read what we think about it in the review of the Oppo Find X8 Pro.
Design and housing
The Oppo Find X8 Pro is available in two colors: Space Black and Pearl White. It looks stylish with curved edges, where the glass front and back unobtrusively ‘transition’ into an aluminum construction. The design of this phone provides a comfortable grip, although the ‘weight’ of the camera island (Cosmos Ring) makes the top of the smartphone slightly heavier. The Oppo Find 34mm thick. Included in the box, in addition to the phone itself, is a USB data cable, a safety guide, a quick reference guide, a SIM pin and another USB-C to USB-A adapter that is not mentioned in the manual. The Oppo Find X8 Pro has a USB-C port, no 3.5mm jack connection for headphones and speakers that sound great. The Oppo Find X8 Pro has a physical alert slider which is very useful: it allows you to switch between ringtone, vibrate and completely silent modes via a slider on the left side of your phone.
Screen
The 6.78-inch Amoled screen of the Oppo Find X8 Pro is fairly standard for a phone, not excellent but not bad either. The contrast could be better: black is not really black as you might expect with an (am)OLED screen in this price segment. What is striking is the 120Hz refresh rate, which ensures that all images are displayed on the screen smoothly and without stuttering. This screen has a peak brightness of up to 1600 nits, so you can see well even in bright sunlight. If you play HDR content, the Oppo Find X8 Pro goes up to a maximum of 4500 nits. The PROXDR display further supports the Ultra HDR standard, so photos always look good in compatible apps and services. By the Splash Touchtechnology, you can also use the Oppo Find X8 Pro in rain/snow/hail without being interrupted. The screen is well protected against scratches and fall damage thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Furthermore, the Oppo Find X8 Pro also has 10-bit color depth.

This ensures that you play with the best possible performance while gaming. While gaming you also have the option to use the built-in game engine change your battery mode so that your smartphone ‘consumes’ less battery or uses more battery for better performance while gaming. You also have the option to Championship mode to enable: this will ‘turn off’ everything except the game and this should ensure optimal performance. That does mean that you Championship mode must be turned off to leave the game. Furthermore, the Oppo Find X8 has a silicon-carbon battery for better battery performance compared to lithium batteries. With silicon-carbon batteries you can store more energy for the same mass. The battery of the Oppo Find X8 Pro has a 5910mAh capacity, so your smartphone can last all day. The Oppo Find The Oppo Find X8 also has fast wireless charging with 50W AIRVOOC.
Cameras
It is not without reason that Oppo collaborates with the renowned camera brand Hasselblad. And this collaboration has certainly paid off, because the cameras on the Oppo phones are excellent. The Oppo Find X8 Pro has a four-camera system. First of all, a 50 MP main camera with a standard 23mm (1x) focal length and a 50MP wide-angle camera with a focal length of 15mm (0.6x). It also has two 50MP periscope cameras that allow you to take beautiful zoomed photos. The first periscope camera has a focal length of 73 mm (3x) and the other camera has a focal length of 135 mm (6x). Thanks to the Sony LYT600 sensor, this camera also takes good photos/videos in low light. According to Oppo, the Oppo Find X8 Pro is the only smartphone that offers optical 135mm portraits for photos of people and pets. Oppo has also expanded the portrait function. This way you can take portrait photos not only of people and food, but also of animals as you see below.

This is a photo taken in portrait mode
As shown above, portrait mode allows you to take beautifully detailed photos as if you were working with a professional camera. Zooming for photos is also excellent on the Oppo Find X8 Pro: you can zoom in up to 60x and still take beautiful photos by using the AI Telescope Zoom-function.

A comparison between a photo that was zoomed in and one that was taken without zooming in
As shown in this photo, you can zoom in very far and still get a good photo. In this case I had zoomed in 40x on a bear and the photo is still quite clear. Furthermore, the Oppo Find X8 Pro also has Lightning Snap with which you can take 7 photos per second by briefly pressing the shutter button. This way, each frame looks like a standalone photo. You can also use this function by Quick Button: a ‘sensitive’ button on the right side of your phone that allows you to quickly start the camera. Editing photos has also been made easy. For example, the AI functions allow you to do four things after taking a photo: with Improved clarity you improve the brightness, with Intelligent deletion remove your parts from photos, with Sharpen you sharpen the photos and with Remove glare remove your reflections from photos as you see below.

The images above show what you can achieve by using the AI Glare Removal feature
In the photo it can be clearly seen that after the AI function Remove glare has done its job, the photo looks better and the glare is indeed (largely) gone. You can see this clearly in the side of the car, for example.
Communication
This phone supports 5G internet and has NFC that allows you to pay with your phone. It is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7.
Software and Update Policy
The Oppo Find X8 Pro uses Android 15 as the operating system and will receive five years of OS updates and six years of security updates. Oppo introduces their new ‘shell’ ColorOS 15 that is optimized for AI capabilities. By means of Oppo’s Luminous Rendering Engine the phone is 40% more stable and has an 18% faster touch response. The AI functionality still lacks Dutch-language support, although, for example, the AI functions when photographing are in Dutch. It is not yet known if and when Oppo AI will be fully available in Dutch.
Conclusion
The Oppo Find X8 Pro is a nice phone with excellent cameras and performance, especially if you want to game on it. And with the VOOC charging technology, it also charges nice and quickly. The downside is that Oppo AI is not available in Dutch.
