Until December 29, it is possible to bid on a rare piece of technical history at auction house Catawiki: a Böhmerland 600 cc. With an impressive length of 3.1 meters, the Böhmerland is known as the longest motorcycle in the world.
The Böhmerland was produced in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s and 1930s and is famous for its extremely long tubular frame and innovative aluminum cast wheels. These wheels, which only became popular in the 1970s, are now a standard part of almost all motorcycles.
Albin Liebisch, the designer of virtually every part of this unique vehicle, created a motorcycle that was way ahead of its time. The Böhmerland distinguishes itself from other motorcycles from the interbellum by its striking colors of yellow and red – which is reflected in a very daring and unique design.
This fully operational motorcycle comes with a valid license plate, making it legal to drive in most European countries. The engine has been carefully restored and comes with historical documents from Czechoslovakia, including a copy of a repair invoice from 1936.
The current owner is a family business of passionate collectors in Northern Italy that has been active for over 30 years.
Of the total of 700 units produced, only about 30 still exist worldwide, making the motorcycle extremely rare. Catawiki experts estimate the value of the Böhmerland at more than €80,000. By comparison, a non-functioning model recently fetched more than $64,000 at auction.
“The Böhmerland 600 cc is not only an important part of the history of technical innovation, but also a fully operational motorcycle. Each Böhmerland model was produced entirely, including the engine, by one manufacturer, making each example unique. This auction offers a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of motorcycle history.
The auction runs from December 13 to December 29, 2024 on Catawiki. After just one day the counter already stands at € 37,500.
