Get real-time insight into your electricity and gas consumption with HomeWizard

This way you can save on your energy costs

High electricity and gas prices continue to dominate the news. Although the government will compensate most households, it remains necessary for most people to maintain control over energy consumption. A tool to monitor your energy consumption down to the second is the Wi-Fi P1 meter from Homewizard (€ 29.95).

The handy device gives you insight into your energy consumption and can also warn you of abnormal electricity or gas use.

Wi-Fi P1 meter from HomeWizard

You connect the HomeWizard Wi-Fi P1 meter to your smart meter, after which you can see in real time what your consumption is at that moment. You also have access to historical data, so you can view consumption per day, week, month and year.

Warnings in case of abnormal electricity or gas consumption

If you have a Homewizard Wi-Fi P1 meter, you can also receive warnings in case of deviating electricity or gas consumption compared to your normal usage patterns through smart, learning algorithms. For example, if you have forgotten to turn the heating down, this can be detected by the smart algorithms.

However, to use this function, you must activate the Energy+ subscription in the app. This subscription costs only €1 per month and, in addition to smart warnings, provides even more useful functions such as exporting meter readings.

Insight into energy costs

It is also possible to enter the rates in the Homewizard Energy app. For gas you can enter the gas price per cubic meter, for electricity you do this per kilowatt hour (KWH). You can also indicate whether you are using a normal and off-peak rate.

The entered rates are immediately displayed by the app in consumption overviews. This allows you to see exactly how much energy you use and what the costs are. You can also view this in real time, day, week, month and year view.

Export meter readings (gas consumption and electricity consumption).

If you want to process the meter readings yourself, that is also possible. You can export energy consumption data to a .csv file. Then import these files into a spreadsheet app such as Microsoft Excel or Numbers.

Exporting electricity and gas consumption from the Homewizard Energy app is not a standard functionality in the app. To use it you need the Energy+ subscription (€ 1 per month).

In the article below we explain step by step how you can export energy consumption data from the Homewizard Energy app

Detecting large and silent electrical consumers

In addition to the Wi-Fi P1 meter, HomeWizard also supplies the Wi-Fi Energy Socket. This is a plug that you place between a wall socket and the device (or power strip). With the Energy Socket you can see exactly how much power has been consumed by the devices connected to it. The energy socket can therefore help you to map the consumption of your devices.

With the Energy socket you can switch off appliances at times when you do not need them, such as your TV power strip, TV peripherals or the hot water from your kitchen boiler at night. Use timers to determine when which devices should be on.

The Energy Socket can keep track of how much power each device with a plug uses or generates. The app shows you this live down to the second, as well as overviews of day/week/month and year in beautiful graphs with cost indications.

Every 1 Watt you reduce in standby consumption saves you more than €3 per year!

Plug-in battery stores your solar power

Households with solar panels can install a home battery from scratch. Without an installer or high installation costs. This is reported by HomeWizard, market leader in energy insights for consumers. Plug it into the socket, follow a number of steps in the app and you automatically save your own generated solar energy for a later time, for example at night.

The Plug-in Battery works wirelessly with the P1 Meter to store the solar power that you would otherwise supply. When you need energy, power from the battery is used instead of expensive mains power. This way you benefit from solar energy day and night.

Add solar panels to HomeWizard

Do you have solar panels on your roof? The P1 meter can then show you what you are using from the electricity grid, how much you are feeding back and the net consumption of your home. You can also link the solar panels to the app.

The connection gives you immediate insight into how much electricity you supply back, the current consumption from the power grid and how much of the solar energy you generate you directly use. To use the new function you need a Energy+ subscription required that costs € 11.99 per year.

Energy display for real-time viewing

The HomeWizard Energy display has a 5-inch LCD screen on which you can view the current consumption of gas, electricity, water and the yield of your solar panels. For this you must have the Homewizard P1 dongle, HomeWizard water meter and make a connection with your solar panels.

The screen is equipped with a radar sensor to turn on the screen when there is movement. You can adjust the sensitivity in the settings, as well as the period for which the screen should remain active.

The screen dims automatically when it gets dark for perfect readability during both the day and night. There is also an option in the settings to adjust the brightness manually.
