Peugeot recently modernized one of its oldest models. So this was not a facelift, but more about an update session at detail level. This means that the now seven-year-old Frenchman has to sing it out. Time to get acquainted with the most bare version.
Peugeot 308 Sedan 1.2 Puretech 110 Active Pack € 27,000
Partly due to the WLTP and its age, the price list of the Peugeot 308 has been stripped down. For example, only two petrol engines are available, with a choice of five trim levels. With an entry price of € 27,000, the five-door hatchback is on the pricey side compared to its competitors. A Ford Focus, Renault Mégane and even Volkswagen Golf are offered for less. However, Peugeot chooses not to offer bare-bare 308. For example, the starter already has a 110 hp 1.2-liter three-cylinder, a block that ensures that the Peugeot is in 100 within 10.0 seconds and continues to 188 km / h. During the sprint from 0 to 100, he leaves the Golf behind, for example, which takes 11.2 seconds with its 90 hp entry-level version.
Although the white color suggests otherwise, the body of the 308 as an Active Pack is not delivered extremely bare. For example, it has 16-inch alloy wheels, all parts are painted in color and LED daytime running lights and LED taillights are present. The headlights themselves are not filled with LEDs; that only happens from the most luxurious GT. The standard fog lamps are only available in LED from the more luxurious GT. The rear bumper of a 308 with Active Pack comes with parking sensors as standard, but the front bumper does not. The slightly more luxurious Alure does get this option, along with a rear camera. The exterior mirrors can also be electrically operated, but also fold in and out at the touch of a button.
Peugeot is also not exactly inside. Although partly due to the black fabric chairs, it is quite a dark whole, many grids and other things are finished with a silver-colored decorative frame. Two screens find their way to the interior of a 308 as standard: one central to the multimedia, one high above the compact, leather-covered multifunction steering wheel. That second screen is one of the previously mentioned innovations: the 308 now has standard Peugeots i-Cockpit (from the new 20 (0) 8, for example). The multimedia system can handle Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and DAB + radio as standard. However, navigation is not standard. The 308 does get a separate climate control, cruise control with speed limiter and Peugeots Connect SOS as standard. All four windows can also be opened and closed at the touch of a button.
With a standard 308 you should be able to manage. If you want some extra space, you can choose the station wagon version SW. The additional cost for this body shape is € 1,250.
