For me, most of the earbuds fall off that close your ear canal, because after a while they start to irritate. That is why I did not like the AirPods Pro from Apple that also easily fell out of my ears and I use the AirPods 2. I have already lost an ‘ear “a few times and I was looking for a cheap (er) solution at the Redmi Buds 6 Active and Lite.
Xiaomi Redmi Buds 6
The appearance of the Buds 6 Active version is the most like the AirPods 2 and the Xiaomi smartphones appears just such a pop-up screen as with the AirPods from Apple. It was therefore no surprise that this cheapest model fitted best in my earcup and did not irritate even after long wearing. The Lite earplugs were a bit looser, so they may fall out of your ears earlier and I only use it to listen to music.
It is very nice that Xiaomi has also released an iPhone and iPad app for their earphones, with which you can set many actions on the left or right ear on the Touch Sensor line with 1, 2 or 3 on the Touch Sensor line. The touchOperation works a little better on the Active belonging than on the Lite model.
Most important differences
In general, both earphones have surprised me very positively. In particular, the sound quality when calling and the long battery life is hardly found in this price range. For a better sound during calling, every ear is equipped with a double microphone with AI noise suppression. Especially for lovers of Apple’s regular AirPods, I can heartily recommend the very cheap Xiaomi Redmi Buds 6 Active. With ‘moisture’ you must of course be careful in this price range. Xiaomi therefore also recommends not to use these earphones with heavy physical efforts. These cheap ears are less suitable for gaming, because they have a somewhat greater delay in combination with other smartphones than those of Xiaomi.
The Lite earplugs also have a battery life of 38 hours, 7 hours of playing time, high-quality AAC audio and Hybrid ANC noise suppression with Bluetooth 5.3. The Active belongs are equipped with the newer Bluetooth 5.4, but has a somewhat shorter battery life of 30 hours, playing time 6 hours and no AAC Audio and Hybrid ANC noise suppression.
There are also stealless button -shaped earbuds Redmi Buds 6 Play that are even a little cheaper with a suggested retail price of € 10.99. Xiaomi does not deliver a USB-C cable and partly because of that they can keep the prices nice and low.
