Apple has announced the second generation of the HomePod mini, with mainly internal improvements. The design of the new HomePod mini remains the same, but Apple’s smallest speaker is now equipped with the faster S10 chip, which is also present in the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
Furthermore, the N1 network chip has been added, which supports WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. The U2 chip improves indoor location determination and the Handoff function, making the speaker not only smarter, but also better suited to the Apple ecosystem and your smart home.
New HomePod mini
A striking trend that we have seen more and more in recent years is the preservation of the original design. The focus is mainly on internal improvements, such as a new processor and more stable network connections. The design of the new HomePod mini remains identical to that of the 2020 model, with a compact size of 97.9 x 84.3 mm. The available colors are now black, white, pink, blue and green.
HomePod mini with S10 chip
The HomePod mini 2nd generation features Apple’s S10 chip, a 64-bit dual-core processor with Neural Engine that Apple previously introduced in the current generation of Apple Watch, including the Apple Watch Series 10 and the most recent Apple Watch Ultra models, allowing the smart speaker to benefit from the same combination of fast performance, energy efficiency and on-device machine learning as these watches.
Immersive audio
HomePod mini is compact and produces great sound that fills the entire room, whether you use the device as a separate speaker, as a stereo pair or in a multi-room audio system. Apple’s S10 chip and advanced computational audio analyze music in real time to optimize dynamic range, volume and acoustic reproduction. Also new is the ability to create a four-speaker surround sound experience by combining HomePod mini 2 with Apple TV 4K (4th generation). The four speakers and the new Apple TV 4K know where they are placed in relation to each other in the room, which automatically calibrates the audio timing and sound level.
New: Sound glow
With Sound Glow, the top of HomePod mini turns into a visual representation of the music, lighting up and moving with high and low sounds. The colors of the light effect match the album artwork of the music you hear. And if you set a certain soundscape, such as rain, you can play special animations to create a calm atmosphere.

Buy HomePod mini 2026
