‘Electric Volkswagen Golf I and Kübelwagen on the way’

Volkswagen has according to the British Coach patented a number of interesting names. These indicate that electric versions of well-known classics are on the way.

In Germany, according to Autocar the names e-Käfer, e-Golf Classic, e-Samba and e-Kübel as determined by Volkswagen. The indication ‘e’ naturally leaves little ambiguity about what this is about. Electric variants of the old Volkswagens seem to be on the way. That in itself is not new; After all, we already saw the electric Beetle and T1 e-Bulli before. Both are creations by eClassics, which has been working for a number of years with support from Volkswagen to transform classics into EVs.

It therefore seems that recording the type names indicates a large-scale adaptation of more classic Volkswagens, in collaboration with eClassics. The e-Käfer is therefore already known and probably the e-Samba is the T1 that we saw before. However, the e-Golf Classic and the e-Kübelwagen are new. Behind the scenes, therefore, a conversion for these models is probably also being prepared. For the electric Beetle, T1, T2 and T3, eClassics currently already uses the 83 hp or 101 hp electric motor that comes from Volkswagen itself. The battery packs, 35 kWh or 45 kWh, also come from the brand. So count on it that the Golf I and the Kübelwagen can also be equipped with it in the future.
