Ducati reveals Panigale V4 R: MotoGP for the street

As if the ordinary Panigale V4 was not enough, Ducati is throwing a big scoop on top with the new Panigale V4 R. During the Ducati World Première 2026, the factory from Borgo Panigale presented the most extreme version of their superbike, directly derived from the MotoGP and Worldsbk projects. A 239 hp / 330 km / h machine that is more racing bike than road motor – but with a license plate.

Ducati reveals Panigale V4 R: MotoGP for the street

A heritage of pure racers

The Panigale V4 R is the latest offspring in a bloodline that goes back to the legendary 996R from 2001. Ducati always uses the R versions as a homology model for the Superbike World Cup. In concrete terms, that means: everything they learn on the track, they put them in this engine. And so this is the most pure and noblest Ducati that you can find in the showroom.

Just like its predecessors, the V4 R is supplied in a numbered series, with a type plate and serial number proud of the crown plate. It is immediately clear: this is not a motor “for there”, this is a collective object and weapon for those who really want to race.

MotoGP technique on license plate

For the first time we see the so -called Corner Sidepods on a production engine. Introduced in the MotoGP in 2021, and now simply available at your Ducati dealer. They provide extra downforce in the middle of the bend and make the engine almost automatically enters. Add the new, larger winglets and the V4 R generates up to 6 kilos extra downward pressure at 300 km/h. Result: more stability when accelerating, more precision at high speed, and especially faster lap times.

And then the Ducati Racing Gearbox (DRG). Neutral is no longer between the first and second gear, but underneath-exactly like the MotoGP machine from Bagnaia. Thanks to Ducati Neutral Lock you can’t accidentally shoot in neutral when braking. It may sound small, but at this level such details make the difference between winning and losing.

Desmosedics Stradale R: More torque, more speed

The heart is the well-known 998 cc Desmoseici Stradale R, further developed with the MotoGP philosophy as a guideline. The figures speak for themselves: 218 hp (208 hp in the US), 114.5 Nm and a speed limit of 16,500 rpm. Those are values that you normally only see on a racing engine.

More important is the way that power is released: more torque in the middle area (+7% at 6,000 rpm) and a higher top. With the optional racing outlet, the power shoots to 239 hp and the top speed continues to 330 km/h. Until recently, that domain was exclusively for MotoGP.

Frame, suspension and brakes

The chassis comes directly from the seventh generation Panigale. Front Frame, Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm, Öhlins suspension around and a new Öhlins SD20 steering damper-it’s all pure competition hardware. The Swingarm Pivot is adjustable in four positions, just like with the Superbikes.

In the area of braking we see Brembo Hypure claws with 330 mm discs: more braking power, less fading. Together with the aerodynamics, this delivers a motor that can be harder, sends tighter and has more traction when the bend comes out.

Electronics: smarter than ever

The Panigale V4 R receives a considerable upgrade of the electronics. The new Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO)-Algorithm calculates real-time grip and translates it into more precise motor brake and traction control. Also new is Race Brake Control, with which you can brake later and harder without imbalance.

On the 6.9-inch TFT screen you can choose from road and track mode. New is the GRIP meter, which you show live how much grip is left. Not that you have a lot of time for that at 300 km/h, but it does give you that MotoGP experience.

For those who want more

There is of course a laundry list of Ducati Performance accessories. Think of carbon rims (almost a kilo lighter), data analysis, pro-brake kits and special racing oil with which the power increases a few horsepower. Ducati knows: if you really mean it seriously, you want to get everything out of this package.

Availability

The Ducati Panigale V4 R will be with the European dealers from November 2025, the US follows a month later. Prices have not yet been announced, but count on it that this will not be a bargain. On the other hand: what you buy is in fact a MotoGP machine that you can just take to the street with.
