Porsche chases renewed Panamera over the Nürburgring

The Porsche Panamera will be facelifted very soon. This time it is Porsche itself that is releasing a bunch of photos of its renewed five-door.

The current second-generation Panamera appeared on the scene about four years ago, which means that according to Porsche’s schedule, the model is due for a makeover. Recently we were able to show an image of the renewed Panamera Sport Turismo and this time it is Porsche itself that presents a set of photos of the renewed ‘liftback version’. The photos were taken on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, the illustrious, more than 20 kilometers long circuit in the German Eifel. Porsche uses the ripping session on the track to illustrate the steps the facelifted Panamera has taken compared to the current model.

With the Panamera visibly updated in these photos, Porsche has completed a lap on the 20.83 kilometer long Nordschleife in 7.29.81. This makes it the fastest ‘Executive Car’ in the Green Hell, according to the brand. A record time, although that obviously depends on how you define an ‘Executive Car’. Mercedes-AMG managed to complete a lap on the circuit in 7.25.41 minutes with the GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé. Anyway, according to Porsche, the new Panamera driven by Lars Kern is a lot faster than the current model. According to the brand, the current Panamera Turbo took 13 seconds longer on a lap, which was also 200 meters shorter due to a different running ‘version’ of the Nürburgring.

The fact that Porsche compares the lap time achieved with the revised Panamera against the lap set by the current Panamera Turbo indicates very likely that the brand has now also used the Turbo variant. The current model is 550 hp strong, but the new variant is still firmly over it. The images also show some of the renewed lighting at the front and rear of the Panamera. We will know more at the end of August, when Porsche will present the updated Panamera to the world.
