Apple has added useful new features to the Weather app in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27: Highlights sections and new views for rain and wind. This gives you quicker insight into the weather forecast for later in the day, without having to navigate through multiple screens.
The new Highlights section shows major weather changes at the top, such as upcoming rain, increasing winds and other notable forecasts. In addition, the app has a new view for the forecasts, with which you can easily switch between standard view, precipitation and wind. This allows you to see at a glance the chance of rain or snow per hour and per day, as well as the expected wind speed with clear visuals.
Highlights in Weather app
At the time of writing, the Highlights feature is not yet available in the Weather app in the Netherlands, but it is expected to be introduced soon once the Dutch language for this component is supported.
Until now, the Weather app mainly focused on the weather forecast and general temperature. In Update 27, Apple is bringing the most important information to the fore with the Highlights feature, so you can immediately see what factors influence your day. This is useful if you want to quickly know whether it will rain later, the wind will blow harder or whether it will remain stable.
Highlights can be found below the current temperature and above the weather forecast for the rest of the day. With the help of a small weather widget you will see an overview of today’s most important weather changes.
Extensive display for rain and wind
The second innovation is in the way the Weather app shows the forecast. You get an extra focus on precipitation and wind, with separate visualizations that make the forecast per hour and per day clearer. This makes it easier to determine, for example, whether you can go out dry or whether an outdoor activity can be better moved.

With the cloud you can activate the type of weather that provides an overview of the weather forecasts for the coming hours and days. The drop allows you to focus on precipitation, while the wind symbol gives you the same focus for wind and storm forecasts.
