What is NanoCount?
NanoCount is a app from Dutch soil which allows you to count down to an event or count up since a certain date. Think of a holiday, birthday, wedding or product launch, but also an anniversary, sporting goal or personal milestone that you want to keep in view every day.
This double approach immediately makes the app more versatile than a standard countdown app. You use NanoCount not only to live towards something, but also to reflect on moments that have already happened and still have meaning.
Counterpart to subscription drive
What makes NanoCount unique is the conscious choice not to be a traditional subscription app. In our conversations with developer Joeri, his vision is clear: a complete app that functions without an account, subscription or advertisements, while the free version offers all the basic functions you would expect from such an app.
That’s refreshing, especially in an App Store where many simple tools now try to charge users monthly. With NanoCount you can use the app for what it is intended for, even if you never buy anything extra.
Free to use, Pro as an extra
NanoCount Pro is for users who want to get more out of the app, but it is emphatic no requirement to use the app properly. The Pro version is a one-time purchase and unlocks additional functions, while the free version remains suitable for daily use as a counting up and counting app.
With Pro you get iCloud synchronization, so that your events remain visible on all your Apple devices. In addition, the paid version offers additional personalization with photos and images as backgrounds, plus premium counter styles, advance reminders, alternative app icons and support for Siri & Siri Shortcuts.

Widgets for iPhone, iPad and Mac
For Apple users, the widgets are especially interesting. The multi-event widget in particular stands out, because you can bring together multiple events in one widget and see at a glance what is coming up or what milestones are in progress.
In practice, this works very well on the home screen of your iPhone or iPad, but also on the desktop of your Mac. The colored backgrounds and clear visual accents make it easy to distinguish between the different events, so you don’t have to open an app first to get an overview.
Count the way you think
Not everyone looks at time in the same way, and NanoCount cleverly responds to this. You can count down not only in days, but also in nights spent sleeping, weekends or working days, so that the count better reflects how you approach an event.
For Pro users this goes one step further. Working days can even be calculated with holidays filtered out, which is especially useful for work-related deadlines, school planning or other times where a regular day count is less relevant.
Personalization design
In terms of personalization NanoCount a lot to offer. The app supports a color picker, gradient themes, over a hundred icons, and several counter styles including ring, dots, bar, and hourglass.
Those who use the Pro version can also set photos and other images as background. This allows you to not only give an event a name, but also give it a stronger visual meaning, for example with a holiday photo, concert image or personal memory.
Privacy comes first
NanoCount places privacy at its core. The app contains no ads and works without an account. In addition, the developer says that no data is collected and your countdowns remain locally on your device. As a result, no tracking or data sales take place.
Conclusion: NanoCount
REVIEW SCORE
In daily use, NanoCount is particularly impressive due to its simplicity. The interface feels accessible and the app lets you count down or add up your way, without having to navigate through complicated settings or paywalls first.
Whether you’re looking forward to your dream trip or want to celebrate your 189th anniversary as a singer, NanoCount keeps track of those moments. The multi-event widget in particular is fantastic to use, because it shows in one overview what is happening in the near future.
Yet there is also room for improvement. In the widget view, it would be nice if you could always see the date of the event directly and have more control over the dimensions and position of photos as background, so that the display can be further customized to your liking.
