Apple has announced the new Apple TV 4K, a powerful upgrade that turns your TV into a smarter entertainment hub. With the A19 chip, this model offers better performance, support for Apple Intelligence and console-level gaming. The previous generation was released three years ago with an A15 chip.

The A19, which can also be found in the iPhone 17 models, provides a major performance increase with a Neural Engine for smart AI features such as an improved Siri and personal recommendations on your TV. The N1 networking chip adds WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. This makes the Apple TV not only great for 4K Dolby Vision and HDR10+ streaming, but also for graphics-heavy games and lag-free multitasking.

New Apple TV 4K

A striking trend that we have noticed more and more in recent years is the preservation of the original design. The design of the new Apple TV is identical to that of the 2022 model, with a handy size of 93 x 93 x 31 mm, perfectly suitable for your living room. The Siri Remote has also not changed. The emphasis is mainly on internal improvements, such as the new processor, so the new Apple TV focuses on better performance instead of external changes.

Apple TV with A19 Pro chip

The new Apple TV 4K’s A19 chip delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance compared to the previous generation. This makes everything run smoother, you navigate faster and animations look better. The A19 chip also includes a new AV1 decoder, allowing you to stream more efficiently in high quality and require less bandwidth.

N1 network chip

The Apple TV is now equipped with the latest N1 chip, an advanced networking chip from Apple for wireless connectivity. This chip, which made its debut in the iPhone 17 series, replaces the previous Broadcom chips. It offers support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread.

Immersive home theater experience

The combination of HomePod and Apple TV 4K was already impressive, and also easy to set up. But with the new Apple TV 4K this goes one step further. Also new is the ability to create a four-speaker surround sound experience by combining HomePod mini 2 with Apple TV 4K (4th generation). The four speakers and Apple TV 4K know where they are placed in relation to each other in the room, which automatically calibrates the audio timing and sound level. You can also use HomePod (2nd generation) in a configuration with four speakers for optimal audio. It is important that you always use two speakers of the same type at the front and back.

Siri AI for Apple TV

Thanks to the new powerful processor, Siri AI comes to the Apple TV. This offers benefits such as smarter speech recognition that understands context, natural conversations with Siri to find content, automatic summaries of films and series, intelligent recommendations based on viewing behavior, and seamless integration with other Apple devices in your smart home. However, the future of these AI features in the EU remains uncertain due to ongoing discussions about the Digital Markets Act and privacy regulations that could potentially impose restrictions on how Apple Intelligence processes data and what features can be available in European member states.
