For the new model year, Land Rover is reviewing the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque. There is interesting news especially in the motor field. The Evoque will include a new engine at the bottom of the range and both cars will receive new diesels and a new infotainment system.
Range Rover Evoque
Land Rover is introducing a number of interesting innovations for the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque. To start with the Evoque. It gets a new entry-level model: the P160. A new Ingenium 1.5 three-cylinder petrol engine with 48V mild hybrid technology serves this purpose. The 160 hp and 260 Nm strong block is able to bring this front-wheel drive Evoque to 100 km / h in 10.3 seconds. Switching is done with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The electric assistance, which works on electricity that is generated when braking and throttle is released, ensures that CO2 emissions are limited to 108 grams per kilometer. That should of course benefit the price.
At international diesel level, the (also mild-hybrid) D165 is added. With the AWD, the 165 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine is good for a 0-100 sprint in 9.8 seconds. That’s 0.5 slower than the D180 AWD, which is currently the choice for Evoque drivers who want such diesel performance. Thanks to the 48V starter generator, consumption and emissions should turn out to be more favorable and that should save some bpm for the Dutch market. Land Rover is also adding the D200 to the range, with a 200 hp version of the same engine. At the time of writing, it is not entirely certain whether these diesels will also be included in the Dutch price list. We also owe you precise consumption figures for the aforementioned engines.

Land Rover Discovery Sport
As mentioned, the engine list of the Land Rover Discovery Sport has also been revised. At the ‘Disco’ the aforementioned D165 is also added to the offer. With the D165 you get the new mild-hybrid diesel power source with 165 hp under the hood, already mentioned with the Evoque, which also delivers comparable figures with a more favorable consumption and emissions as with the D180. To bridge the gap between this D165 and the already available D240, Land Rover is also inserting the 200 hp D200 in the Discovery Sport range.
Finally, on international petrol level, the P290 is added, the new subtopper under the plug-in hybrid P300e. An ‘e’ is missing in the type designation and that already indicates that this is not a plug-in, but just a version that likes petrol. A new top version for the plug-free Discovery Sports, with just a little less power than the partly electrically powered Disco. The clock should be able to reach 100 km / h in 7.4 seconds, with which the P290 still has to yield 0.8 seconds on the P300e. In this case also applies again; more precise performance and consumption figures to follow.

Pivi Pro
Not only in the engine area there is news, because the interior of both cars will soon be different. Both the Evoque and Discovery Sport get the Pivi and Pivi Pro infotainment system assigned. We already know that from the Defender. The new system, standard from S versions, should be more intuitive to operate than the TouchPro system now in both models. This is partly because the various functions can be operated from one homescreen in different windows. It ‘learns’ more about the user of the car. For example, it automatically switches off voice guidance in the navigation system when you drive on roads where you drive very regularly. Land Rover is also adding ‘Cabin Air Filtration’ to the options. This is intended to ensure that the air in the car is as clean as possible in a smart way by measuring the air for pollutants. Land Rover proudly says that, for example, it should also be able to largely counteract the risk of viruses for occupants. A ‘hot item’ in the world at the moment.
Additional information specifically intended for the Dutch market, such as new prices and launch dates, will follow at a later date.
