New Nissan Z Proto on display

Nissan is releasing another teaser video for the yet to be revealed Z Proto, the highly anticipated successor to the 370Z. This shows that the sports car will most likely get a manual gearbox.

In the video one element stands out: the Proto Z seems to have a manual gearbox. In a shot you can see that a hand seems to make a switching movement. Furthermore, the video mainly confirms earlier suspicions. Nissan goes back to the past for the design and shows in the latest Z style characteristics of the primal 240Z. In particular, the long hood and abruptly shortened rear are some clear references to the past. The Proto Z also seems to get the characteristic rectangular rear lights, which also appear briefly in the video. The lighting appears to be composed of horizontal LED strips.

The image of the teaser seems otherwise quite similar to our illustration. The Proto Z will be unveiled in its entirety on September 16, when more information will also be released about what’s under the long hood of the sports car. It could just be that the 400 hp V6 that Infiniti already uses in the Q50 and Q60 will also be used for the Z. Whether the latest chapter in the Z saga will also come to the Netherlands is not yet known.
